There were grounds for a parade.

---------------------------------------------------------------

there were grounds for a parade
ticker tape and a presidential wave
from behind bunkers and shelters
men in grey suits grinned and paved the way
for tomorrow and the next day.

hmmm - short attention span - thoughts that don't last longer than an intake of breath - but... how do you then explain one of the most profound, desperate, echoing, heartbreaking poems of the century - Leonard Cohen, which he wrote in capitals:

MARITA
PLEASE FIND ME
i AM ALMOST 30

I wrote this when young and even then - old:

I wanted you to call me again
I wanted to kiss you
Kissing you gave me butterflies
in my tummy

I would have made you peach melba and ginger bread men

I would have played Chopin for you
by candlelight

but you didn't call

So

Chopin will blow out the candles

the gingerbread men will eat
the peach melba

and I

will kiss butterflies

in the dark

wow, i really like how this verse flows... it is just so gosh darn pleasing to the ears. it also sounds vaguely familiar, but i googled it and i guess i'm just imagining things. but yes, it is one of my favourites.

and i think your music and your (i like to call them) poems reflect your brain activity. passionate and thoughtful, yet brief and fragmented. i personally like it, for when it comes to music and poetry, i have the attention span of a five year old.
i guess it's not too good with respects to the whole song thing, but if your poetry is an expression of your thoughts and emotions, then the longer you try to make it, the more diluted it could end up. but i don't know, i'm quite tired and don't know much about poetry.
so adieu, good night and good luck.

sometimes i write things that are so familiar, i myself have to look them up to check. if you find something amoungst my words or music that looks like its from somwhere else, let me know.

thank you so kindly for the replies, they mean more to me then you know, so keep it up!

brilliant bit of poetry from the only woman in my life!
